Search Process for Faculty Positions

Hiring new faculty is one of the most important responsibilities of an academic program. These decisions can affect a department for years to come. At VSU, the hiring process should begin with a discussion within an academic program about positions needed for the future growth and development of that program, not just about replacing a person with someone in the same field. When an academic program wishes to search for a position, it should take all steps to ensure that the search is carried out by a fair and equitable process that will attract a strong pool of candidates to VSU.
