How did majoring in English prepare you for your career?
Majoring in English with a concentration in journalism has helped me take a leap forward in the real world. I've been able to use all the skills I've learned and apply them to many things that I've come across in my career. I'm so thankful to have gone through the English journalism path while at Valdosta State University and can honestly say I owe much of my success to all the amazing professors and advisors I had the pleasure of knowing.
How has majoring in English enriched your life?
I began telling stories at a young age and was always connected to a pen and paper. It wasn't until I majored in English at VSU that my eyes were opened to the endless possibilities of storytelling. VSU's English department made me prouder to call myself a journalist.
What advice or insight do you have for VSU alumni and students interested in your career field?
Along with gaining extensive knowledge and experience, students should also build connections with not only their professors and advisors but also outside connections in their desired fields. Building a connection with someone can take anyone a long way or even help them gain insight of the right path to take.
