A message from C. Alan Rowe, interim director of Public Safety at VSU, regarding Hurricane Matthew:
As I'm sure you've seen in the news, we have a hurricane system approaching the United States from the Caribbean. Based on the current forecasts, Hurricane Matthew will remain off the east coast of Florida and Georgia as it moves north. Even if this route remains true, and Matthew does not make full landfall, we could still see some heavy rains and tropical storm level wind effects. As of now, we anticipate any impact the VSU area sees to occur between late Friday evening and during the day Saturday.
As the weather often does, this forecast could change, but rest assured the administration and the Department of Public Safety is monitoring the storm closely and will update you with changes as they become necessary. At this time, no decision to close campus or cancel courses is anticipated. Please check your registered alert system devices, campus emails, and social/traditional media regularly.
