Religion Materials Collection on Display at VSU’s Odum Library

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University invites all faculty, staff, students, retirees, alumni, and friends of the university to view its various collections of religion materials housed in Odum Library’s Archives and Special Collections.

Highlights of these materials may be found in the display cases located in the first floor south lobby area of the library. This includes a number of rare books and information from the New Age Movements, Occultism, and Spiritualism Research Library, as well as the John Gordon Crowley Papers, an assemblage of research gathered by this assistant professor of history at VSU for his book, Origins and Development of the Union Primitive Baptist Association of Georgia; the South Georgia Folklife Collection, a resource on South Georgia heritage and tradition, including traditional arts and artists; and the Tatler-Burgess Collection, an eclectic grouping of rare antique books, maps, art, medieval illuminated manuscripts and Bible leaves, and more.

Anyone interested in taking a closer look at these materials should visit VSU’s Archives and Special Collections on the fourth floor of the Odum Library. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
