VSU’s Beta Alpha Psi Wins Best Practice

VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University earned top honors at the 2016 Beta Alpha Psi Southeast Regional Meeting in Birmingham, Ala., Feb. 27-28.
VSU’s Mu Zeta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi placed first in the Alignment of Officer Activities category during the 2016 Best Practice Competition.
“I am immensely proud of our chapter for our continued success in the Best Practice Competition,” said Joseph Trevena, chapter president and a graduate student pursuing a Master of Accountancy from Peachtree City. “We continue the tradition of placing in the top three in at least one Best Practice category since our installation as a chapter in 2009.”
VSU’s eight-year winning streak began at the 2009 Best Practices Competition, when the chapter took first place in the Service Learning category. It continued with 2010’s third place in the Ethics and Integrity category, 2011’s third place in the Sustainability category, 2012’s second place in the Change category and third place in the Social Networking category, 2013’s first place in the Imagination category, 2014’s second place in the Leadership category and third place in the Collaboration category, and 2015’s second place in the International Impact category.
VSU’s Mu Zeta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi is committed to promoting the study and practice of accounting and finance, providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. The student organization was founded in 2009.
VSU Beta Alpha Psi will present at the 2016 Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 4-6.
Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor organization for financial information students and professionals. It is comprised of more than 300,000 members and 300 collegiate chapters that seek to encourage and recognize scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field.
Beta Alpha Psi is open to all undergraduate and graduate students majoring in accounting and finance at VSU. National membership is available to students with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Students with a grade point average below 3.0 are encouraged to join as chapter members.
The VSU chapter meets at 5 p.m. every Thursday in the Health Sciences and Business Administration Building Room 1103.
