VSU Welcomes Alumnus, Expert on Inter-Religious Cohesion in North India Jan. 28

VALDOSTA – Colin Law, a Valdosta State University alumnus and temporary instructor in the Department of Religion at the University of Georgia, will present “Inter-Religious Cohesion in North India” from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, in Odum Library Auditorium No. 1160. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

Sponsored by the Valdosta State University Philosophy and Religious Studies Club, Law will discuss his trip to Malerkotla, a town in the Punjab region of India, and present and illustrate the religious history of coexistence and tolerance, as well as the past conflicts between Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs in the region. Law’s lecture will serve as a case study on how other countries tackle the problem of religious tensions and conflicts when they arise.

Law earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and religious studies in 2013 from VSU, followed by a Master of Arts in religion from the UGA Franklin College of Arts and Sciences in 2015. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in higher education executive at UGA, where he serves as a graduate assistant to Dr. Alan A. Godlas, an associate professor in the Department of Religion and a leading scholar of Islam in North America who was invited to present at VSU by the Philosophy and Religious Studies Club in 2015.
