Valdosta—Valdosta State University (VSU) and North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) signed a Pathways Program agreement on Monday, Sept. 8, during a ceremony at NGTC’s campus in Clarksville, Ga. Through the agreement, NGTC students who successfully earn an Associate of Applied Science degree are eligible to work toward a Bachelor of Applied Science in human capital performance or Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership at VSU.
“VSU is the leader in providing access to students throughout Georgia who have completed their academic requirements at a technical college and are ready to earn a four-year degree,” said VSU President William J. McKinney. “Valdosta State University is pleased to develop a partnership with North Georgia Technical College. It is these types of collaborative relationships that will assist more students in earning a college degree and creating a highly educated workforce in Georgia.”
The Pathways Program agreement with NGTC represents the 10th partnership Valdosta State has developed with Technical College System of Georgia institutions. The articulation agreements have been established to streamline the transfer process for students who successfully earn an associate degree to continue their education at VSU and graduate with a four-year degree.
“Everything we do is focused on providing our students with the resources they want and need to attain their goals,” said North Georgia Technical College President Gail Thaxton. “We are proud to be able to offer this articulation agreement with Valdosta State University to our students, adding to our portfolio of opportunities for a virtually seamless transition a bachelor’s degree for those who want to continue their studies. It is a pleasure to partner with such an outstanding organization.”
The Pathways Program centers on the priorities of Complete College Georgia (CCG), an initiative developed to increase the number of Georgians earning a college degree. In 2012, institutions in both the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and the University System of Georgia (USG) submitted plans to achieve the ambitious goal of adding more than 250,000 postsecondary graduates to Georgia’s workforce by 2020.
