Shannon McGee Appointed Director of Auxiliary Services

VALDOSTA – Shannon McGee has been appointed director of Auxiliary Services and chief auxiliary services officer effective June 1, 2014.
 
Traycee Martin, interim vice president for the Division of Finance and Administration, announced McGee’s appointment. She succeeds Dr. Robert Kellner, who is retiring after 31 years of service at Valdosta State.
 
“Bringing years of experience at VSU, Shannon understands the auxiliary environment and University System of Georgia and, therefore, ensures continuity in leadership,” said Martin. “I am eager to see Shannon apply her strong business acumen and vision of sound business practices, as well as innovative ways to improve revenue generation and efficiency of operations. Her long history of collegial relationships at VSU, her alma mater, will be valuable in her new role.”
 
In her position as director of Auxiliary Services, McGee will be responsible for providing leadership and financial oversight for auxiliary service components, including University Stores, Dining Services, One Card, Parking and Transportation, and campus vending contracts.
 
Martin stated that Housing and Residence Life, along with Student Health Services, began reporting to the Division of Student Affairs as of May 1, 2014.
 
McGee has served as associate director of Auxiliary Services at Valdosta State since 2007. In that role, she managed the development, operations and facilities of various units within Auxiliary Services. McGee provided direct supervision of Parking and Transportation, One Card Services, Vending Services, and Technology Stores (part of University Bookstore).
 
McGee began her career at Valdosta State in 1997 as a systems administrator for One Card Services. Prior to Valdosta State, she served as an adjunct instructor at Valdosta Technical College (now Wiregrass Georgia Technical College) and quality assurance engineer at Goldleaf Technologies.
 
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the university in this new role,” said McGee. “I look forward to working with the campus community to improve the support services and products we offer for students, faculty, and staff and I am excited to help move Auxiliary Services forward.”
 
McGee received a Bachelor of Science in computer science and Master of Public Administration, both from Valdosta State University.
