Evening of Geniuses Honors Best of the Best in Student Organizations
VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University’s Media Arts Geniuses (MAG) will hold its second annual Evening of Geniuses Awards Show Sunday, May 4 in Whitehead Auditorium.
“The award show will honor the best of the best in Valdosta State University’s student organizations,” said Juwan Andrews, president of MAG. “Admission is $1 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit our newly established scholarship, Genius Dollars for Scholars.”
Categories for the awards show include favorite student organization, favorite event, favorite Greek fraternity (NPHC and IFC), favorite Greek sorority (NPHC and CPC), best photographer, best cinematographer, favorite live performer, Mr. and Ms. Superlative and the humanitarian award.
Awards are determined by a nomination process.
“Upon receiving nominations from student organizations, nominees are contacted for promotion materials including logos, videos or graphics,” explained Andrews. “The nominees are then placed on Campus Connect for voting.”
Winners are selected from the top five in each category.
“I am ecstatic about this year’s Evening of Geniuses Award Show, where a diverse group of students will come together to recognize the successes and accomplishments of the 2013-2014 school year,” said William Jimerson, president of the VSU Student Government Association. “Each year, Media Arts Geniuses - one of the most involved student organizations on this campus - works tirelessly to provide first-class entertainment of our talented VSU student body. I am looking forward to what surprises MAG has in store for us this year.”
This year’s award show will include a variety of entertainment, including step performances from different Greek organizations.
“I am excited to see our council's organizations able to step in Whitehead Auditorium for the first time,” said Tristen Jones, president of VSU’s National Panhellenic Council. “Evening of Geniuses was such a success last year so I am greatly anticipating this year's show. I know MAG has worked to make it larger and grander this year. It is a big event that brings our council and student organizations together.”
