Online STEM and Healthcare Career Fair Connects Employers to Potential Candidates
VALDOSTA – Companies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and healthcare fields can recruit job candidates, cooperative education students and interns during Valdosta State University’s STEM & Healthcare Online Career Fair, to be held April 1-7.
“The beauty of this fair is that employers can explore the resumes and qualifications of students in our STEM and healthcare disciplines at their convenience online,” said Kevin Taylor, associate director of Career Opportunities.
Employers can post positions in fields like information technology, computer science, social work, nursing and dental hygiene by registering for the fair at www.valdosta.edu/career .
“Some employers may choose not to post positions, but they will still be able to search resumes if they register,” said Taylor. “We have targeted various healthcare facilities, science companies, IT companies and school systems in need of speech pathologists and teachers in math and science fields.”
This virtual career fair was created to bring employers in some of the fastest growing industries and students together at their convenience. The fair will also help students learn about various opportunities available to them.
“This fair is extremely beneficial to students in fields such as chemistry, computer science, geosciences and our pre-engineering program as well as those pursuing degrees in healthcare,” said Dr. Gary L. Wood, professor of inorganic chemistry and coordinator for the Center of Applied Research. “This fair also provides another means for recruiting and retaining students in STEM fields. Our students need ways to find jobs that are available to them and this is a great tool.”
