VSU Hosts World AIDS Day Monday, Dec. 1

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University will support World AIDS Day 2008 by providing free HIV testing and a lunch-n-learn on Monday, Dec 1.

Members of the VSU and local communities are encouraged to participate in HIV testing from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the University Center Lobby near the food court.

The Lunch-n-Learn, also open to the public, will be held from 12-1:30 p.m. in the University Center Cypress Room. The event will focus on "The Impact on Families and Communities" and will feature a panel discussion on AIDS awareness, featuring speaker Dr. W. Saurina, head of infectious disease at South Georgia Medical Center; John Rogers, Public Health Educator with the South Health District; and family members and individuals who were personally affected by HIV/AIDS. The lunch is free to the first 75 registrants and $6.25 for all others.

The South Health District, VSU Campus Wellness, and Student Health and College of Nursing have worked together to organize these events.
