Vice President for Advancement Candidate Scheduled for CampusInterviews

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University is in the process of interviewing three candidates for the position of Vice President of Advancement. The third candidate, John D. Crawford, will participate in a series of on-campus interviews with various groups including a presentation to faculty, staff, students and members of the community on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m., in Powell Hall. The presentation will include an overview of Crawford’s qualifications and experience in relationship to the position.

Crawford received a bachelor of science in history from the University of West Alabama. He is currently associate vice president for Institutional Advancement and Development at the University of West Alabama, Livingston, Ala.

The search committee includes Dr. Louis Levy, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Kurt Keppler, Vice President for Student Affairs; Mr. James Black, Vice President for Finance and Administration; Mr. Herb Reinhard, Director of Athletics; Dr. Christine James, Secretary of Faculty Senate; and Ms. Terri Lupo, Mr. Tyson McLane, and Mr. Wayne Edwards, members of the VSU Foundation, Inc.

Parker Executive Search firm of Atlanta has been retained to assist in marketing and identifying qualified candidates for the Vice President for Advancement position. More than 20 applications were received and six candidates were interviewed off-campus on Nov. 30 and Dec.1, 2007. The search committee identified three highly qualified candidates for on-campus interviews.

The three finalists represent a diverse group of professionals with extensive higher education advancement experience. The finalists have documented expertise in the area of capital campaign, corporate and foundation stewardship, alumni relations, marketing and governmental affairs.
