Former students join VSU in sharing 100 years of history
Whether they attended South Georgia State Normal College,
Georgia State Womans College, or Valdosta State College, former
students of the Valdosta State University's early days will soon
have the opportunity to participate in two commemorative
events.
On Friday, April 21, the Valdosta State College class of 1956 will
celebrate their 50-year class reunion, in the University Center
Cypress Room, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person and include
the meal and entertainment. Students from the class of 1954, 1955,
1957 and 1958 are also invited to celebrate the occasion.
On Saturday, April 22, the annual House in the Woods luncheon will
take place at the University Center Magnolia Room, at 11:30 a.m.
Alumni and faculty from the first class of 1915 through the class
of 1966 are welcomed and celebrated at this event. Tickets are
$15
Taken in 1939, this photo shows students of
the Georgia State Womans College gathering around the fireplace in
the House in the Woods for social time.
