College Bowl Team Headed to Nationals
Unless you are on the finest trivia team in the region, you may
not know the name of the element whose absorption into the body is
regulated by Vitamin D, or the name of the nation whose diplomats
are traditionally called either nuncios or apostolic
delegates.
These are the types of questions Valdosta State University's
College Bowl Team will be tackling at the National Championship
Tournament 2006, taking place at the University of Hartford, in
Hartford, Conn., April 21-23. The VSU team is the only Division II
team out of 16 colleges and universities participating in this
year's event.
The VSU College Bowl Team won its first regional competition in
February at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa after defeating
some top teams from the University of Florida, University of
Georgia, and Florida State University, among others, and was
awarded the opportunity to advance to the national
competition.
VSU's four-member team includes: Mikey Alday, a senior in nursing;
Mitch Alday, a senior in English; David Dickey, a senior in
history; and Josh Higginbotham, a junior in communications arts.
They will go head-to-head in this battle of the minds with the
following colleges and universities:
University of Massachusetts-Lowell
St. Bonaventure University
Seton Hall University
Bucknell University
Davidson College
Ohio State University
Northwestern University
University of Illinois
University of Minnesota
Washington University-St. Louis
Baylor University
University of Arizona
Montana State University-Billings
University of California-Los Angeles
University of New Mexico
