NASA joins students from around the world

Dr. Jiri Stelzer's KSPE 2000 class at Valdosta State University will be visited by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) via innovative distance learning technology, along with students from Palacky University in the Czech Republic and Abant Izzet Baysaal University in Turkey on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at 2 p.m. The 55-minute presentation will highlight space exploration.

Stelzer, an assistant professor in the Kinesiology and Physical Education Department, created the international distance learning course at VSU to expose students in his Health and Wellness class to culturally diverse health care approaches. Internet-based conferencing allows students to attend class at their home institutions while participating in class discussions and small group projects with students across the globe. Students are able to access course content and communicate with each other via online discussion forums and e-mail using WebCT Vista.

The class meets in the Special Education & Communication Disorders Building (next to the University Bookstore on Patterson Street) in room 203.
