World Renown Pianist Performs at VSU

Award winning pianist Katia Skanavi will perform at Valdosta State University's Whitehead Auditorium on Wednesday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Skanavi grew up in Moscow, began her musical studies at the School for Gifted Children and later attended Gnessin Academy in Russia. She placed third in the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, won the Maria Callas Competition in Greece in 1994, and was recognized by Gramophone Magazine for her rendition of Chopin. Skanavi currently lives in Moscow with her husband and three children.
