'What on Earth is a Pangolin?' part of VSU's Science Seminar Series
"What on Earth is a Pangolin? The evolution of a very odd order
of animals," is the second seminar in the weekly science series
sponsored by Valdosta State University's Biology Department, taking
place Thursday, February 9, 2006, at 4 p.m., in the Hugh C. Bailey
Science Center, room 1011.
Only seven living species of the bizarre, toothless, ant-eating,
scale-covered mammals are included in the Pholidota order, which
can be found in parts of Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. Dr.
Timothy J. Gaudin, professor and acting head of the Biological and
Environmental Sciences Department at the University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga, will discuss two aspects of his research on this
unusual group of scaly anteaters.
This event, taking place during VSU's centennial year, is free and
open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Blaine Browne
at 249-4914 or blbrowne@valdosta.edu.
