Hospital recruiters to converge at VSU April 16 for College ofNursing's Spring Semester "Scholarship Day"

Working with the theme ?Nursing: Help is on the way,? VSU nursing students are preparing for ?Scholarship Day? April 16, a day devoted to scholarly works presented by undergraduate and graduate students and a day devoted to helping VSU nursing students find jobs. The event will take place in VSU's University Center from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

?The nursing job market is excellent and we are delighted to have so many recruiters from hospitals all across our region join us for Scholarship Day,? said Jeff Black, a senior nursing student from Gadsden, Alabama and the Publicity Chair for the event.

Black said a major part of Scholarship Day is devoted to presentations by both VSU nursing students and professionals already in the field. The presentations are devoted to the latest issues in the nursing and health care fields. Among titles of subjects to be covered during the day long sessions are ?Roadmaps to Problem Solutions in Management,? ?Competitive Nursing Salaries Worldwide,? ?Infant and Toddler Safety Precautions at Home,? ?Promoting Nutritional Health During Pregnancy,? and ?Autism and the effects of diet therapy for symptom management.? Another session will be devoted to ?How to find a job after graduation.?

Among the recruiters and sponsors of Scholarship Day are the U.S. Armed Forces, North Florida Regional Medical Center, Memorial Health University Medical Center, Archbold Medical Center, University Hospital of Augusta, Satilla Regional Medical Center, and South Georgia Medical Center. The Scholarship Day committee includes Jeff Black, Candika Bennett, Katie Gana, Joelle Harvey, Jill Howell, Lauren James, and Carla Pye.
