Arming women with self-defense
Valdosta State University's Public Safety Department is doing
its part to provide women with the knowledge and skills needed to
protect themselves from an aggressive attack through Rape
Aggression Defense (RAD) courses.
The next RAD course begins April 3 and runs through April 12. The
four sessions will be held on April 3, 5, 10, and 12 from 5:30 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m. in the Continuing Education Auditorium. The cost is
$15.
RAD teaches both threat avoidance strategies and assault resistance
tactics for women; and is designed to reduce victimization of women
through informed decision making and sensible action.
?The most important thing is being aware of your surroundings so
you can avoid potentially harmful situations,? said Cpl. Dennis
Nealon, crime prevention officer and RAD instructor.
For more information or to register for RAD, contact Cpl. Nealon at
229-245-6493.
