VSU employees contribute to local, state and national charities
Valdosta State University's faculty and staff displayed their
spirit of giving by donating $29,008 to this year's annual State
Charitable Contributions Program (SCCP). This year's contributions
represent an increase of $8,830 from the 1999 campaign.
The Valdosta-Lowndes United Way will receive $22,520, with the
remaining going to various independent and charitable
organizations.
According to Chuck Hudson, SCCP co-chairman for VSU, this year's
campaign was a success not only due to the increase in monetary
contributions, but the number of employees who participated. This
year 378 VSU employees participated, an increase of 184 from last
year's campaign.
Department leaders hand delivered packets of information to every
employee at VSU and were responsible for collecting each pledge. "I
am grateful to those who worked on the campaign and contributed to
its success," said Hudson.
The SCCP was created in 1982 by the Georgia Assembly to offer state
employees the opportunity to make contributions to independent and
federal charitable organizations, including the United Way.
