Regional Social Science Fair 2000
The Regional Social Science Fair was held at the University
Center of Valdosta State University on Saturday, Feb. 19. The
Valdosta region includes schools in the surrounding 17 counties.
Participants in grades 5-12 participate in school fairs. Winners of
school fairs compete in regional competition. The best eight
projects from the region go on to state competition, to be held
April 15, 2000, at Clayton State College and University in Morrow.
Class I winners are from grades 5 and 6, Class II winners are from
grades 7 and 8.

Jordan Hancock, Class II, Brooks Middle School: "Humans and

DeShaun Maria Harris, Class II, Lowndes Middle School: "How Much

Hannah Whisnad, Class II, Valdosta Middle School: "Does the King
Live On?"
Stacy Cain, Class II, Valdosta Middle School, "Child Abuse"
Charlie Bell, Class II, C. A. Gray Middle School, Moultrie: "Rise
and Fall of an American Town"
Andrew Smith, Class I, Hahira Elementary School: "Are We Loving
Yellowstone to Death?"
Casey Jones, Class I, Quitman Elementary School: "How does Smoking
Affect You and Your Environment?"
