Artist brings mixed media prints to VSU
The Valdosta State University Art Gallery presents, "Greg
Carter: Recent Mixed Media Prints." The exhibit will be on display
until Feb. 25. Greg Carter is a mixed media artist who combines
painting with printmaking.
Carter's recent works explore history and its connection between
people and their culture. He studies how cultures use images to
limit and control our understanding and how these images also
create personal meaning.
Carter uses materials that create a particular meaning for each
painting. The printmaking used in Carter's paintings give the art
an original mark. He wants a separation of the finished work from
the artist's hands.
Since 1988, Carter has had nine solo exhibitions. He has been in 18
group exhibitions in the U.S. and Western Europe.
Carter earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Atlanta
College of Art and also earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at the
Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University in New
Brunswick, N.J.
