VSU Celebrates Constitution Day
VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University is honoring Constitution
Day -- Friday, Sept. 17 -- with a series of events to celebrate the
223rd anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
The Department of Political Science, Department of History,
University Honors Program, Office of Legal Affairs, and College of
Arts & Sciences are sponsoring the below events, which are free
and open to the public.
Thursday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. in the UC Magnolia Room
Keynote presentation: Dr. Kenneth Janda, Payson S. Wild Professor
Emeritus in the Department of Political Science at Northwestern
University, will engage the audience with a talk titled "So You
Think You Can Dance: Can You Write a Constitution?"
Monday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Powell Hall
Auditorium
A student-led debate titled "Current Issues on Citizenship: The
14th Amendment & Redefinition of Citizenship."
Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Odum Library
Auditorium
College Democrats vs. College Republicans: The groups will debate
the topic "Campaign Financing: Citizen United vs. The Federal
Election Commission (FEC)."
