VSU Prepares Students for a Safe Spring Break
With spring break rapidly approaching, Valdosta State University
will host a Safe Spring Break Fair on March 9, 2006, on Palm's Quad
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year's theme is "Don't Be Lost: Find
Your Way to a Fun and Safe Spring Break."
VSU will join thousands of colleges nationwide in encouraging
students to make responsible decisions while on spring break and to
take care of their friends. Several information booths with
representatives from on and off campus will educate students on
relevant issues such as the responsible use of alcohol, exposure to
the sun, sexually transmitted diseases, nutrition, predatory drugs,
and positive alternatives.
In addition to the information, there will be games, door prizes,
music provided by a DJ, an inflatable slide, and free food. There
will also be a "DUI Cone Course" and a simulated DUI. Students will
have an opportunity to sign pledges promising not to drink and
drive or ride with a driver that is alcohol impaired, to wear their
seatbelts, and to take care of themselves and their friends.
Anyone wishing to sponsor an information table or provide a game
booth or food item is encouraged to contact Mark Williams,
Coordinator of VSU's Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Education at
229- 259-5111.
