Nevaeh Wallace Wins Blazer Creed Award at VSU
Nevaeh Wallace of Valdosta, Georgia is the recipient of Valdosta State University’s 2024 Blazer Creed Award for Citizenship and Integrity. She anticipates earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication, emphasis in Organizational Communication, in May.

Justice Verda Colvin to Speak at VSU Feb. 15
Supreme Court of Georgia Justice Verda Colvin will present “Mentorship: Lifting as We Climb” at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Valdosta State University. This event is open to the public and presented free of charge by the Copeland African American Museum.

VSU Planetarium Presents “Planet Parade” Jan. 31
The Valdosta State University Planetarium presents “Planet Parade” at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. Seating for each presentation is limited to 47 guests. Free admission ticket distribution begins as early as 5:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis at the VSU Planetarium.

VSU Alumna Taelynn Walton Preps for Medical School and Serving the Underserved
Taelynn Alyssia Walton, a recent Valdosta State University alumna from Gwinnett County, Georgia, dreams of becoming a doctor and dedicating her life to helping others. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Minor in Chemistry, and a Minor in Sociology during VSU’s 238th Commencement in December and is currently studying for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

Levy C. Hiers-Perez Wins Blazer Creed Award at VSU
Levy C. Hiers-Perez from the James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services is the recipient of Valdosta State University’s 2024 Blazer Creed Award for Civility. He joined the VSU faculty in 2016. He currently serves as coordinator for the Department of Teacher Education’s American Sign Language/English Interpreting Program, where he also teaches courses in ASL, interpreting, and Deaf education.

VSU Hosts Book Signing with Former Governor Nathan Deal Feb. 6
Valdosta State University will celebrate early literacy development and former Georgia Governor Nathan Deal’s first children’s book from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in Jennett Lecture Hall. This special event is open to the public.

Dr. Jodi Cronin Wins Blazer Creed Award at VSU
Dr. Jodi Cronin from the James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services is the recipient of Valdosta State University’s 2024 Blazer Creed Award for Civility, Citizenship, and Integrity. She joined the VSU faculty in July 2023 and currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Teacher Education.
