The Department of Teacher Education offers the following degrees for Middle Grades teachers or prospective teachers:

M.Ed. in Middle Grades Math/Science

Master of Arts for Teachers in Middle Grades 

The MAT Program offers two tracks of study.

For professionals currently teaching on a non-renewable non-professional certificate, students in the M.A.T.. can earn certification (T-4) after their first year and complete the requirements for the M.A.T. in their second year in the program (T-5). The curriculum includes two full semesters of internship/student teaching experience in the schools.

The second track is a full-time master's/certification program which incorporates evening courses and daytime apprenticeship and internships in the schools. This curriculum can be completed in four semesters of work, which includes two full semesters of internship/student teaching experience in the schools. Graduates of this track earn an M.A.T. and clear-renewable teaching certification (T-5) in four semesters of coursework.

To be considered for admission, applicants must complete both the MAT Program admission requirements and the requirements for College of Education's Teacher Education.
