The Department of Curriculum, Leadership, and Technology offers the Education Specialist and Master of Education degrees as well as the Library Media Certification-Only program. The programs feature online course-delivery to meet the needs of working professionals.

Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Instructional Technology

The Instructional Technology (IT) Ed.S. degree allows students to obtain an advanced degree in the rapidly growing field of instructional technology. Valdosta State University's Department of Curriculum, Leadership, and Technology began offering an online Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology in Summer 2000. The Ed.S. IT program is a 30 semester hour program in a fully online format. Georgia media specialists, technology coordinators, and other educators and trainers with a Master's degree in any field are invited to apply.

The programs of study for this degree have been designed for students who wish to obtain a 6th year service certificate in instructional technology and/or library media. Both certificates require graduates to pass the GACE for either or both fields. There is also a Technology Applications concentration for non P-12 personnel.

Both Ed.S. tracks accept applications for Fall and Spring semesters.

Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Instructional Technology

The M.Ed. program offers students two study tracks: P12 School Library Media and Technology Applications. Both program tracks are offered in an online delivery format, so they are great options for students from all over the state of Georgia. Eligible candidates hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited school and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.50.

P12 School Library Media Option

The P12 School Library Media Track of the M.Ed. program prepares students to be school media specialists. Students are eligible for the Georgia S-5 certificate after passing the appropriate GACE Content Assessment and completing the graduation requirements for the M.Ed. Program.

Technology Applications Option

The Technology Applications track provides preparation for careers as technology coordinators or instructional technologists in settings like the public school system, business, industry, government, the military, health fields, and higher education.
